Highlights & analysis of West Ham vs. Manchester City matchup. Erling Haaland doubles Pep Guardiola's title defense.

Erling Haaland scored two goals in his Manchester City debut, helping to launch his Premier League title defense with a 2-0 victory over West Ham United.

Haaland was unable to finish his City debut in the Community Shield loss to Liverpool last weekend, but was successful at London Stadium.

Alphonse Areola brought down the Norway star after Ilkay Gundogan's clever pass.

This was just before West Ham's substitute goalkeeper went wrong from the penalty spot.

David Moyes' side was regaining control of the contest, but Kevin De Bruyne & Haaland combined to win the game in a devastating 65-minute period.

West Ham began on the front foot with Michail Antonio's fourth-minute cross to Pablo Fornals.

But the game settled quickly into the expected pattern and City seized 79 percent of the first-half possession.

De Bruyne dragged the ball wide from 20 yards, after Joao Cancelo had darted infield from left back.

The Belgium midfielder had the ball at the goal in the 27th minute, but Gundogan was unable to score due to a miscommunication during the buildup.

Lukasz Fabianski was forced to pick the ball from the net after suffering an injury in an earlier collision with Haaland.
